Cbank says sells Asian-Pacific Bank for 14 bln rbl to Kazakh firm

SOCHI, Sep 17 (PRIME) -- Russia’s central bank has sold Asian-Pacific Bank to Kazakhstan's Pioneer Capital Invest for 14 billion rubles, the regulator said in a statement on Friday.

The central bank’s Chairwoman Elvira Nabiullina said at a forum, "We have held an auction to sell Asian-Pacific Bank today. A foreign investor with the Kazakh capital has won with a good bid."

According to the statement, the winner will transfer a part of the bank’s net profit for January–September to the central bank until November 30.

The change of ownership may be carried out by November 1.

Apart from the Kazakh investor, Russian banks Promsvyazbank and Sovcombank took part in the auction.

The central bank sold Asian-Pacific Bank, whose recovery started in 2018, from the third attempt. In 2020, the regulator decided to postpone the sale to 2021–2022 due to uncertainty amid the coronavirus pandemic, as well to expand a number of possible bidders and to receive a fairer price.
